CONSTRUCTION PHASE
The Collegedale Spanish American SDA Church is grateful for your continuous support during the past ten years in the SuCasa Church building project. In 2023 we are now much closer to seeing God’s promises fulfilled in a new church where all members and students can be equipped to preach the Gospel and can find love and support in our church family.
As we continue to work on the SuCasa Project several changes have taken place since our last video report. As you can see, we have moved from the design and planning phase to the construction phase starting in October 2020. However, the mission that God has entrusted us remains the same: to work along SAU to minister to the Hispanic students and community.
The first change is the location of our future place of worship where our members will congregate and continue to spread the gospel of Christ’s love for all of us. It is with much joy and gratitude that we announce that by God’s grace and the support of the University, the Conference, visionary donors, and the sale of church assets, our future Collegedale Spanish American Church will be located at 4879 College Drive East next to Collegedale Academy. Since the site location has changed, a new design had to be developed that would account for the different topography of the new location and the completely new parking requirements of the church.
The design of the church is geared in a manner that future members could easily expand it when necessary. Since our church has been the mother church of multiple Hispanic churches in the area, it is also very important for us to have the ability to house a future church within our walls.
We are also designing many areas of the church to be multifunctional such as the children’s wing would be used for Sabbath school and as a daycare during the week, and as such, provide another ministry opportunity. Since our church family worships in two languages (English and Spanish) much emphasis is being placed on production and translation capabilities so that we can spread the gospel locally and to other parts of the world through our online ministry. Finally, the design encompasses aspects that would allow our church to host more Conference activities by including a gym and fellowship hall that could also double as additional seating or meeting areas.
The Collegedale Spanish-American Church, better known as SuCasa, continues with the same mission: To inspire children, youth, and adults to have a vibrant relationship with God, so that by reflecting His character we can proclaim to the world the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and prepare the way for his second coming.
This is not just a church building project. It is the expansion of the mission that God has entrusted us with to spread his love and hope. Nearly 40 years ago, a group of faithful and visionary people saw the need for a small house of worship for Spanish speaking students and members on the SAU campus on Colcord drive. Today that house of worship is too small, yet the need is still the same. Please consider supporting our church in this mission.
